GLACKIN AND SHEVLIN HELP BANNSIDERS CONTINUE CUP DEFENCE
A goal in each half helped holders Coleraine get past Glentoran at The Showgrounds and progress to the BetMcLean League last four.
The Bannsiders might have moved in front as early as the eighth minute when Conor McKendry rattled the crossbar from just outside the box.
But they did take the lead on 19 minutes after McKendry teamed up with Jamie Glackin on the counter attack with the latter slotting the opener past Ross Glendinning.
Patrick McLean had an effort on target midway through the first half as the Glens looked to get back into the game while, not long before the break, Glackin turned provider for Stephen O'Donnell to head inches wide.
Glentoran came within a whisker of levelling just before the hour when, from a Bobby Burns cross, Robbie McDaid headed against an upright from a tight angle.
However, Coleraine doubled their lead on 63 minutes after Matthew Shevlin pounced on a mistake by Malachy Smith before finishing confidently past Glendinning.
