Adam Lecky bagged a hat-trick as Crusaders proved too strong for Moyola Park in the BetMcLean League Cup.
It took just 15 minutes for the Crues to exert the dominance over the Premier Intermediate League – as Adam Lecky headed Lewis Patterson’s superb cross out of the goalkeeper’s reach for the opening goal of the game.
Lecky doubled his and his club’s tally just six minutes later. Neat interchanges from Brandon Doyle and Philip Lowry allowed the big striker the opportunity on a plate the place the ball past Morgan Moore.
The hat-trick came on 61 minutes when Johnny Frazer’s cross was knocked down by Lowry and Lecky lashed home his third to claim the match-ball.
The Crusaders fourth was only three more minutes away as Jordan Owens got in on the act, meeting Johnny Frazer’s cross with a powerful header that was too much for the Moyola Park defence to stop.
Owens wrapped up the game on 75 minutes, he scored his second after another fine header, this time pouncing on Chris Hegarty’s knock-on from a corner, sending Stephen Baxter’s men comfortably into round three.
