ANNAGH SWEEP TO COMFORTABLE CUP WIN
Annagh United swept to a comfortable 4-1 home defeat of Knockbreda to progress to the next round of the Bet McLean League Cup.
After an almost scoreless first half Annagh moved in front just before the break when Peter Duffin turned the ball home at the back post.
Ruairi McDonald pounced on a mistake by 'Breda keeper Lewis Deane to fire into an empty net just after the hour before, on 77 minutes, Stephen Murray scored from the spot to make it 3-0 following some good work from Duffin.
The visitors grabbed a consolation soon after through Lee McGreevy but, with two minutes remaining, Duffin doubled his tally for the evening to restore Annagh's three goal advantage with a chip over Deane from a tight angle.
