GORMLEY DOUBLES UP AS REDS GET PAST BANGOR
Cliftonville defeated Bangor by the odd goal in five at Solitude to secure a place in the BetMcLean League last eight.
It took the Reds 13 minutes to move into the lead after Rory Donnelly lifted the ball above keeper Jason Craughwell before, seven minutes from the break, Joe Gormley made it 2-0 with a low finish from a counter attack.
And there might have been a third for Paddy McLaughlin's side of the stroke of half-time only for Donnelly's shot to strike the woodwork before bouncing to safety.
The Seasiders pulled a goal back ten minutes into the second half when Mark Cooling pounced on a misplaced pass to beat Declan Dunne into the bottom corner.
However, Cliftonville restored their two-goal cushion just after the hour with Gormley's second of the evening despite the best efforts of the Bangor keeper.
Bangor fought back, reducing the deficit when a Cooling cross was diverted into his own net by Cliftonville's Joe Gorman but, unfortunately for the Premier Intermediate League side, it wasn't enough to prevent their exit from the competition.
