WELDERS SHOCK 'POINT AT MILLTOWN
HW Welders caused one of the shocks of the night with a BetMcLean League cup victory over Premiership hosts Warrenpoint Town at the Q Radio Arena.
'Point led at the break through Linfield loanee Brandon Doyle who flicked the ball past Ryan Miskelly after a corner from the left landed at his feet.
The Welders levelled on 53 minutes courtesy of Luckas Gwiazda's close range finish from a Ross Arthurs left-sided cross but, just a couple of minutes after that, Conall Young restored Warrenpoint's advantage with direct free-kick straight into the top corner.
However, back came the Welders on 68 minutes when Arthurs pounced on the loose ball after Berraat Turker dropped a cross into the pounced before, with just under a quarter-of-an-hour left, Welders substitute Adam Wright edged the Championship side in front for the first time after a free-kick into the box caused confusion in the home defence.
Then, in the closing moments, Jonathan Smith made sure with the Welders' fourth goal with a successfully converted spot-kick.
