McILVEEN BAGS HAT-TRICK AS COMRADES CRUSH BREDA
Ballyclare Comrades set up a Bet McLean League Cup visit to Glentoran following a seven-goal thumping of Knockbreda at Dixon Park.
Kyle Beggs opened the scoring midway through the first half with a low shot past the keeper from the edge of the box just inside the near post.
Jonathan Doey added a second on 26 minutes with a powerful nine-yard header from a corner before Samuel McIlveen made it 3-0 with a drilled finish followed by Fra Nolan's 20-yard chip on the stroke of half-time.
Ballyclare hit another three goals in the final quarter-of-an-hour. McIlveen doubled his tally after Nolan had teamed up with Thomas Robinson to create the opportunity, with Robinson getting on the scoresheet himself soon after from close range.
McIlveen then claimed his hat-trick at the second attempt after his initial 87th minute effort was blocked. 'Breda did grab a late consolation thanks to Brendan Bennett's spot-kick.
