The NI Football League have released fixtures for this season’s Under-16 and Under-18 Academy Leagues.

The Academy League was established last season to support the NI Football League's ambition to better support Youth Development within Premiership clubs.

On the pitch Linfield enjoyed success success in the inaugural Under-16 and Under-18 divisions, but all clubs enjoyed greater support and recognition in a better environment for player development. For the 2019/20 season we welcome Institute and Newry City into the league and speaking of the season ahead.

Development Manager Steven Mills said;‘We were pleased with how the first season of the Academy League went but it’s only the start of a long term project and this year we want to continue to evolve.

"The Premiership clubs are really stepping up and committing more to Youth Development and that can only be good for the future of our clubs and young players. In time we aim to create a better environment for youth development to ensure young players and clubs get the right support and opportunity to succeed."

The season starts with an Academy Development Day on Sunday 1 September with the regular season commencing the following weekend.
