GLENS HIT BALLYMENA FOR SIX

Glentoran Belfast United hit Ballymena United All Stars for six in an impressive performance at Ashfield.

In an even opening half-an-hour both teams enjoyed possession but it was Glentoran that broke the deadlock with a Rachel Rogan header at the near post giving the home side the lead in the 33rd minute.

Glentoran's second came five minutes later from Nadene Caldwell after receiving a pinpoint pass Samantha Kelly from the left wing.

The visitors still continued to press the Glentoran defence with Alison Smyth forcing a great save from Ashleigh McKinnon just before half-time.

The Glens increased their lead inside the opening minutes of second half when Rebekah Reynolds fouled Rogan inside the box, with Kelly Bailie stepping up to convert from the spot.

It wasn’t long after when Ballymena's Erin Getty handled the ball in her own, Bailie once again sending the 'keeper Anna Daley the wrong way to make it 4-0.

Glentoran's final two goals came from substitute Caragh Milligan who caused problems down the right hand side.
