TOWN KNOCK CELTIC OFF SUMMIT

Banbridge Town knocked Donegal Celtic with victory over the Hoops at Suffolk Road.

Stephen Acheson edged the visitors in front as early as the third minute with a backpost header past Celtic 'keeper Sean McIlhone after Ryan Moffatt had delivered a corner from the right.

Further chances followed for Banbridge, with Neil Clydesdale coming close before a Conor Downey effort was cleared off the line.

Celtic might have levelled just before the break after a Kevin Hughes shot from the left had 'keeper Tuda Murphy scrambling to clear.

Town extended their advantage on the hour. Once again Moffatt played his part with a run and cross from the left being tucked home by the onrushing Ross Black.

DC pulled a goal back just a minute later after Valentin Feher's shot took a slight deflection as it evaded Murphy.

Celtic pushed hard for the equaliser but couldn't find a way past the resolute Banbridge defence, and their cause wasn't helped towards the end when Breandan O'Neill was dismissed for a second bookable offence.
