CHAMPIONSHIP & PREMIER INTERMEDIATE PREVIEW: 14 OCTOBER

In the first of a new series this weekend's Bluefin Sport Championship and Premier Intermediate League games are previewed by Aaron O'Neill.

Bluefin Sport Championship

In the Bluefin Sport Championship, there is only one game due to many of the second-tier players being called into Harry McConkey's Northern Ireland Junior International squad for the Quadrangular Tournament.

The sole fixture sees second place Knockbreda with the opportunity to return to the top of the table with a win over Larne. The Inver Park side won their first game of the season last week against PSNI and will be bouyed by the feelgood factor from the recent takeover of the club.

Bluefin Sport Premier Intermediate League

It’s yet another action packed weekend in the BlueFin Sport Premier Intermediate league with little to separate the top sides.

Table-toppers Banbridge Town prepare to face a buoyant Dundela side. A win for ‘The Duns’ would see them go level on points with the league leaders with a game in hand over their fellow title challengers.

Second placed Queen University will be looking to increase their win’s tally to 4 as they face Gary Taylor’s Portstewart. The Seahawks enjoyed a share of the spoils against Sport & Leisure Swifts last weekend as they played out a 2-2 draw.

Lisburn Distillery head into this weekend’s clash with Donegal Celtic knowing that a win will keep them in contention for top spot, whilst DC are involved in the relegation scrap and a win would certainly boost their survival prospects.

Sport & Leisure prepare to host Moyola in what is shaping up to be one of the weekend’s stand-out fixtures. Both sides are level on 10 points and a win for either side would see them staying in touch with league leaders Banbridge Town.

In the mid-table clash Armagh City prepare to take on Tobermore United whilst bottom of the table Annagh United host Newington YC.
