Celtic moved into the lead after 22 minutes when Sean Southam connected with a corner delivered to the back post to head home in off the underside of the bar.
They doubled their advantage in very similar circumstances on 38 minutes when, again, a corner was floated over from the left for - on this occasion - Stephen O'Neill to head beyond Darren Gibbons.
Then, on the stroke of half-time, O'Neill struck again with another header from just outside the six yard box after Karl Rossborough sent a free-kick into the danger zone.
But back came Bangor after the break. On 52 minutes Jordan Lucas did well to take the ball down the right before cutting it back for Jordan Baxter to slot into the bottom left corner.
Then, sixty seconds later, Nicholas Napier threaded the ball through from inside his own half for Lucas to collect and bring into the area before beating Sean McIlhone to the right.
However, Celtic grabbed their fourth three minutes after that. A Gary Watson backpass was miskicked by Gibbons allowing Declan Monaghan the simplest of tasks to touch the ball into the unguarded net.
Lucas might have reduced the arrears for Bangor again only to skim the woodwork before, with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, Lukcas Gwiazda did find the net with a glancing header from Adam Calvert's delivery.
