BURNS STRIKE ENOUGH FOR NEWINGTON

Conal Burns grabbed the only goal of the game as Newington defeated Tobermore United at Seaview.

The 26-year-old frontman struck after 19 minutes after he was granted too much time and space to thump the ball past United 'keeper Matthew McGraw.

Newington went on to create a number of chances for the remainder of the first half but couldn't find a way of unlocking the visiting defence.

Tobermore regained some impetus moving into the second half, culminating in a late Conor Kearns effort which had beaten 'keeper Dean Smyth only to thunder back off an upright before being cleared to safety.
