TEN-MAN VILLAGERS HOLD ON TO SECURE VICTORY

John Uprichard opened the scoring for the Villagers after just eight minutes from the spot after Curtis Woods fouled Peter Campbell inside the area.

The hosts then doubled their advantage five minutes before the break after Stefan McMaster teed Marc McConnell up just outside the area to fire a sweet shot into the bottom corner beyond 'keeper Paddy Flood.

Ballyclare grabbed a goal back 11 minutes into the second half when Jason Johnston beat the offside trap to fire past Gareth Buchanan.

And Buchanan had to be alert barely a minute later to save Michael O'Hanlon's curling free-kick that was destined for the top corner.

A good attacking move between Stuart Mallen and Campbell resulted in Uprichard having a great chance to restore his side's two-goal lead on the hour mark when he did well to sidestep Michael McQuitty however he couldn't keep his effort on target.

Loughgall were reduced to ten men just after the hour when midfielder McMaster was shown two yellow cards in quick succession by referee Neil Robinson.

The visitors thought they are levelled late in the game only for a McQuitty 'goal' chalked off for offside after a close range finish.
