NORTH WEST BRAGGING RIGHTS GO UNCLAIMED

Limavady United and Institute produced four goals in an entertaining North West derby at The Showgrounds but, ultimately, the bragging rights went unclaimed.

The Roesiders raced into the lead after just 43 seconds when, following a defensive mix-up, the ball broke to Robbie Hume who duly took a step inside before firing past 'keeper Martin Gallagher.

Institute levelled after five minutes after Marcus O'Kane upended Michael McCrudden in the area to concede a penalty ... with McCrudden converting with an expert finish after dusting himself down to take the spot-kick.

And he made it 2-1 to the visitors a short time after that with his second penalty of the game. On this occasion Andrew Devlin brought down Jamie Dunne with McCrudden subsequently sending 'keeper Paul Wells the wrong way.

But, as the frantic start continued, back came United. Caoimhan Bonner made a mistake in the 'Stute rearguard conceding possession on the edge of the area to allow Hume in to pick his spot and beat Gallagher for a second time.

Perhaps unsurprisingly the second half failed to live up to the heights set in the first, although Hume might have grabbed the points for the Roesiders let on only to send the ball into the side netting.
