McDOWELL GOAL SEES PSNI SECURE END OF YEAR WIN

The first half saw little in the way of control from either side with the only real chances coming in the opening quarter when Lukasz Adamczyk latched onto a defensive mistake only to see his shot come back off the base of a post and away to safety and a Shea McGerrigan effort going narrowly wide of the target.

PSNI took control of the game in the early stages of the second half but just as Armagh were starting to get some passing of their own going they fell behind when Paul McDowell met a cross from the right to stab the ball home at the back post.

City came back strongly in an effort to find an equaliser with a Johnny McSorley firing a snapshot just wide and minutes later Jordan Williamson saved an Andrew Hoey effort.  The home side continued to press and the visitors were restricted to counter attacks as they pushed more and more men forward.

It looked as if they home side had found an equaliser ten minutes from time when Shea McGerrigan chipped the advancing Williamson only to see his effort cleared off the line.

In the final minute, as if to prove it wasn't going to be City's day, Andrew Hoey headed over when well placed following some excellent work on the right by Jordan Bell.
