HONOURS EVEN AT DIXON PARK

Both sides wasted golden opportunities to score in the opening minutes. Almost straight from the kick-off Newry's Mark McCabe was through on goal, but his attempted lob over the 'keeper drifted wide of the target.

Then, two minutes later, Thomas Robinson should have put the home side in front, but he dragged his shot disappointing wide from 5 yards out.

The only goals of an evenly fought encounter came relatively late on.

In the 73rd minute Comrades took the lead, when Chris Rodgers fired home from three yards after a corner.

Then, sixty seconds later, Newry equalised, with McCabe slotting home from close range after a Stephen Hughes effort had come back off the post.
