The NI Football League wish to thank everyone in attendance for their amazing support at Sunday’s BetMcLean Cup Final.

9,179 fans came together for the biggest domestic attendance of the season to witness Linfield defeat Portadown to retain the cup at the National Stadium at Windsor Park, yesterday.

NI Football League CEO Gerard Lawlor thanked the fans for playing their part in the special day:

“Following another hugely successful BetMcLean Cup Final, fans continue to back this event in their numbers year after year, for which we’re incredibly grateful.

“The colour, the atmosphere, and the backing both sets of supporters gave their clubs was exemplary from start to finish.

“This is a match that now attracts first-time fans and lapsed supporters, so it’s vitally important we showcase everything that is great about the Irish League on the big occasions, and I feel we’ve achieved that on Sunday.

“There has been a lot said this season regarding fans, and therefore I feel it’s important to praise the efforts and behaviour of supporters and thank them for their part in a special day.”
