CRUSADERS Reserves have brought more silverware to Seaview by lifting the George Wilson Cup after an enthralling 2-1 win against rivals Cliftonville Olympic.
Despite losing to the Reds in all three Reserve League encounters this season, Crusaders Reserves manager Gavin Arthur had said before the game that his side were now much stronger than these previous results suggest. And so they were.
The Crues started the game the brighter and were 1-0 up after just five minutes when Salou Jallow got on the end of a right wing cross to poke the ball home, capping off a fine move.
Crusaders Reserves doubled their lead just before the hour mark as Adam Wilson smashed the ball home after a goalmouth scramble.
This sparked Cliftonville Olympic into life as they played with more urgency, and this had immediate results with Ross Lavery pulling a goal back on 66 minutes to make it 2-1.
Olympic threw everything at Crusaders in the last quarter of the game but there was no way past Graeme McKibbin in goal as the Crues held on to win a thrilling George Wilson Cup Final.
