WEEKEND FRIENDLIES ROUND-UP

Cliftonville welcomed a Swansea City XI to Solitude as the Premier League side continued their short tour of Northern Ireland.

The Welsh visitors grabbed an early lead through Jordan Garrick after he poked home an Aaron Lewis corner.

But the Reds levelled later in the first half courtesy of Jay Donnelly's close range finish after Daniel Hughes delivered a cross into the box before, soon after, Garry Breen grabbed what turned out to be the winner with a looping header beyond 'keeper Gregor Zabret.

Coleraine won by the odd goal in five after an entertaining trip to take on Niall Currie's Portadown.

Kevin Amuneke fired the Ports in front after a quarter-of-an-hour with a curling effort into the top corner but two goals in as many minutes from James McLaughlin and Jamie McGonigle gave Oran Kearney's side the lead.

McGonigle extended that advantage just after the half-hour mark but Chris Lavery pulled one back for the Ports just before the break to complete the scoring.

Carrick Rangers travelled to New Grosvenor Stadium to defeat Lisburn Distillery 3-1. Denver Gage opened the scoring early in proceedings for Rangers, although Matthew Ferguson levelled for the Whites just before the break.

However, moving into the second half a further strike from a trialist and a concluding Michael Smith strike meant the visitors ended the game on top.

Ards made it into double figures at Adams Park with a 10-1 trouncing of Abbey Villa.

Leading 3-1 at the break thanks to an opening goal from Nathan Hanley and brace from Michael McLellan, Colin Nixon's side went on to add to their tally in the second half with another couple from McLellan, a goal apiece from Craig McMillen, Gary Liggett and Jonah Mitchell before finishing with a Guillaume Keke double.

Meanwhile, Dungannon Swifts were on the road to Rathfriland, returning to Stangmore Park with a 3-1 win under their belts thanks to an opening goal from Liam McMenamin followed by a double from a trialist while Warrenpoint Town recorded a similar victory over Windmill Stars.
