STILL ALL TO PLAY FOR AS 'STUTE AND CARRICK END LEVEL

There remains little between Institute and Carrick Rangers following the first leg of their Danske Bank Premiership promotion/relegation play-off at the Riverside Stadium.

Rangers do possess a potentially vital away goal but there really is still all to play for when they sides meet again at the Belfast Loughshore Hotel Arena on Friday night, kick-off 7:45pm.

In what was a tight, cautious first half neither side looked likely to make the breakthrough with both defences controlling proceedings.

However, there was a flurry of activity just before the break, when 'Stute edged into the lead courtesy of Michael McCrudden's close range header.

Carrick responded within a couple of minutes, though, after Niall Grace was adjudged to have handled the ball before Martin Murray duly slotted home the subsequent spot-kick.

'Stute might have regained the advantage on 51 minutes only for Daryl McDermott's goalbound header to be cleared by Aaron Smyth while, not long after that, Sammy Morrow attempted to make the most of mis-hit Brian Neeson clearance only to send the ball off target.

Declan O'Brien had the ball in the net for the visitors late in the goal but his header was ruled out offside.
