REDS UNTROUBLED AT SOLITUDE

Cliftonville produced a competent, workmanlike performance to comfortably defeat Warrenpoint Town at Milltown.

The Reds moved in front after 14 minutes when, from a Joe Gormley cross, Rory Donnelly saw a header knocked against the woodwork with Jude Winchester tucking away the rebound from close range.

And Winchester was involved in Cliftonville's second goal a minute from the break when he slid the ball in behind the defence for Chris Curran to tuck away the ball in off 'keeper Johnny Parr.

This failed to spark any more goals after the break. Indeed, it was to be a game of few chances although Jay Donnelly did come close with an overhead kick.

He did have the ball in the back of the net towards the end, only for it to be ruled out by the officials for offside.
