KEKE DOUBLE NOT ENOUGH AS CARRICK FIGHT BACK

Two goals just before the break earned Carrick Rangers a share of the spoils to edge a little further away from automatic relegation.

Aaron Callaghan's side just need another point from their remaining three games to ensure a place in the play-offs and consign Portadown to a spell in the Championship.

Guillaume Keke fired Ards into the lead as early as the third minute with a volley into the bottom corner after the ball was punched out to the edge of the area.

Keke then made it 2-0 with six minutes of the first half remaining after his 20-yard effort was deflected beyond Brian Neeson into the bottom corner.

However, Ards stormed back to go in at half-time on level terms.

Martin Murray reduced the deficit on 41 minutes with a neat finish after a one-two while, four minutes after that, Paddy McNally sent a bullet header past Aaron Hogg from a corner.

Neither side managed to find a way through after the break with Steven McCullough perhaps coming closest with a long range effort over the bar.
