EARLY GOALS SET CRUES ON COURSE FOR DERBY VICTORY

Two first half goals saw Crusaders ultimately grab victory from this north Belfast derby at Solitude.

The Crues moved in front after barely two minutes when a Jordan Forsythe throw-in wasn't cleared by Chris Ramsey allowing Jordan Owens to hook the ball past 'keeper Brett Long.

Then, on nine minutes, Colin Coates made it 2-0 after some hesitant defending from Ramsey allowed the former Northern Ireland international to tap home from close range.

Both sides were reduced to ten men midway through the second half.

Crusaders lost Coates on 62 minutes after collecting a second booking in quick succession, both for fouls on Joe Gormley.

But Cliftonville suffered a dismissal themselves seven minutes after that following Levi Ives' straight red card after a challenge on Declan Caddell.

Barry Gray's side pulled a goal back in the first minute of stoppage time after Chris Curran got past Mark McChrystal before pulling the ball back for Jay Donnelly to fire into the bottom corner.

However, it wasn't enough to spark a push for the equaliser as Crusaders held on to secure the points.
