BACK TO BACK WINS FOR THE SKY BLUES

Cathair Friel bagged a double as Ballymena United came from behind to defeat Warrenpoint Town at Milltown.

Martin Murray fired Warrenpoint into the lead after barely 31 seconds when, straight from the kick-off, he got on the end of a Stephen Murray through ball to slip a shot past 'keeper Conor Brennan.

United levelled on 19 minutes, however, when Kevin Braniff produced a save from Johnny Parr with a rasping effort and from the resultant corner Friel turned home a header.

That was how it stayed until just after the hour mark when Emmett Friars edged the visitors in front after connecting with a Steven McCullough corner to the back post to nod the ball past Johnny Parr.

A short time later Conor McCloskey might have added a third only to clip the crossbar while, with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, 'Point skipper Sean Mackle almost levelled with a free-kick which fizzed just wide with Brennan beaten.

However, the game was settled with ten minutes to go when Friel doubled his tally after getting on the end of a perfectly weighted Braniff delivery to poke the ball past Parr.
